Educating Young Minds on Olive Oil and Cultivating an Oleoculture

I had the pleasure of offering an educational olive oil tasting session to two private schools-one from Germany and one from Greece-at the headquarters of Elliniki Agogi – School of Ancient Greek. Thanks to the kind invitation of Eugenia Karagiannidou, I had the opportunity to be among young students who share a love for Greece and Ancient Greek culture.

After learning about the history and uses of olive oil in antiquity, the students tasted Greek olive oils and were introduced to the different categories and quality characteristics of olive oil. They discovered the fascinating world of olive oil, its health benefits, and its essential role in healthy eating and Mediterranean culture, from Ancient Greece to today.

The growing global need for well-being begins with our eating habits. The daily use of extra virgin olive oil is the cornerstone of the Mediterranean diet, and educating children-as future consumers-is the most important step in building not only nutritional awareness but a true olive culture.

Seeing the surprise and delight on the children’s faces as they taste a fragrant extra virgin olive oil for the first time fills my heart and gives me the strength to continue my mission.

A heartfelt thank you for the warm hospitality!
